AL exec: There have been some
concerns expressed in regard to the
CLASS Act—in particular, that young-er/healthier Americans won’t participate in the program. What are your
thoughts on that?
garner: Early on, we did some focus
groups with young people who were in
college—because for this kind of thing

young people buy into the concept.
What we found was that they had
much more of an appreciation than I
probably would have given them credit
for about the fact that something unforeseen could happen to them. Also,
when we asked them, “Is this something worth investing in?” they said yes.
