assisted living communities increased
for the fourth consecutive quarter in
1Q10, increasing by 0.3 percent from
last quarter.
Although demand continued to
increase, the supply of units in
assisted living communities increased
at a faster rate, increasing 0.6 percent
from last quarter. therefore, assisted
living’s overall occupancy declined
marginally by 0.3 percentage points
to 88.1 percent but remained above
its cyclical low established in 2Q09 at
87.9 percent.
supply is likely to expand at a
similar rate again next quarter, but
the rate of supply growth is expected
