Harbor Retirement Associates, LLC
Harbor Retirement Associates, LLC (HRA) is a young, nimble company that
develops and manages independent living, assisted living, Alzheimer’s and
skilled nursing communities in Michigan, Alabama, South Carolina, and Florida.
In 2003 HRA became the second Senior Housing provider to purchase Yardi
Voyager, which it used solely for resident billing. Five years later, seeking
additional capabilities for reporting, marketing and other functions, Harbor
elected to implement the remaining components of Voyager Senior Housing.
Why Yardi?
“When I arrived at Harbor in 2008, I saw that we needed our software platform
to handle not just billing, but other aspects of our expanding portfolio as well,
including marketing and resident care,” recalled Joan Williams, HRA’s chief
financial o;cer. “I contacted Yardi, and they showed us how their latest version
of Voyager Senior Housing could accommodate our needs. As a result, we
extended the Yardi platform to encompass these additional areas.”
Since 2008 HRA has used Voyager’s fully integrated system for a range of business
functions including marketing, resident billing, and resident census. Voyager helps HRA
track, manage, categorize, and measure its referral sources. Voyager automatically makes
information on budgets, 30-day projections of move-ins and move-outs, sales activity,
rent rolls, and resident payments available on an executive management dashboard.
“It’s a sophisticated, well thought-out system. The workflow is intuitive, and training
people on Voyager is a piece of cake—it’s very easy to learn,” Williams said.
HRA also uses Yardi’s Application Service Provider hosting. Yardi hosts the application
and database, provides technical support and networking resources, and assumes
responsibility for system security, allowing HRA to focus on its principal business.
“Voyager is a great product. I love it. It has served us very well, and we plan to
expand our use of its functionality in 2010 and beyond,” Williams said.
